Stephen Gately, one of the lead singers of pop group Boyzone died at 1PM last Saturday, October 10, 2009, after a night party. Gately was found dead at his £1m apartment over the bay of Cala Llamp near Port Andratx in south west Mallorca (Majorca), the largest island in Spain.
Georgi Petrov Dochev, a Bulgarian Black Cat (gay club) regular and friend of Gately and Andy Cowles (Gately’s partner), discovered the dead body of Gately. “‘I almost have not slept since this happened,” Dochev said in broken English. According to Spanish newspaper called “Ultima Hora,” Dochev and Cowles slept in the master bedroom while Gately stayed on the living room sofa. The newspaper also reported that Dochev and Cowles got up late at around 1PM . He broke his silence after knowing this claim and he said that he’s not in bed with Cowles when it happened. Dochev doesn’t want to discuss further about the horrific death of Gately.

The police authorities have not yet confirmed whether all the details in “Ultima Hora” were tru or not. All they can say for now is that there were no signs of violence, drug overdose, or suicide. According to some reports, it might be that Gately choked on his own vomit after drinking heavily in Palma. Gately’s family do not believe that he would stay in Palma and drink for eight hours. Autopsy was not yet performed in Gately’s body because today is Bank Holiday in Spain.
Meanwhile, Gately’s bandmates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Miley Graham flew to Mallorca and will still stay there until they got the official autopsy report.
