Osama bin Laden, the founding leader of al-Qaeda, the most wanted terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the attempted bombing of a plane over Detroit. A certain audio message which was released on Sunday threatening more attacks on the United States, is said to be the evidence that bin Laden is connected to this past terror attack.
The audio, which was broadcast by al-Jazeera television in Qatar, did not claim direct responsiblity for the attack but it is clearly addressed to President Barack Obama and the U.S. According to the audio, bin Laden warned that they will continue raids as long as U.S. continues to support Israel.
“The message I want to convey to you through the plane of the hero Umar Farouk [Abdulmutallab], reaffirms a previous message that the heroes of 9/11 conveyed to you. America will never dream of living in peace unless we live it in Palestine. It is unfair that you enjoy a safe life while our brothers in Gaza suffer greatly. God willing, our raids on you will continue as long as your support to the Israelis will continue.”

While the voice on the recording appeared to resemble bin Laden, a senior U.S. intelligence official said that it is still not to be considered an evidence that bin Laden had any involvement in the failed bombed attack. Besides, the audiotape has yet to be authenticated by Western intelligence.
