Ohio State Buckeyes welcomes the new year with a bang! Buckeyes captured their first Rose Bowl win since 1997 by defeating Oregon Ducks held at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena California.
On the Buckeyes’ first possession, starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to junior tailback Brandon Saine. Placekicker Devin Barclay kicked a 19-yard field goal with 34 seconds left leaving Ducks scoreless.
Ducks changed the game in the second quarter. Morgan Flint kicked a 24 yard field goal with 14 minutes in the game. Running back LeGarrette Blount’s powerful 3-yard run helped the team to tie the score but Barclay kicked a 30 yard field goal giving his team their first three points in the game.
Another three points was added to the team’s score when kicker Aaron Pettrey hit a 45-yard field goal.
Jeremiah Masoli kicked 1 yard run with 11 minutes in the game but Buckeyes regained the lead when Barclay hit a 38-yard field goal.
Ducks lose their power in the fourth quarter. Buckeyes stopped their momentum by building a tight defense which makes them scoreless in the said quarter.
“Definitely the whole night we were just a little bit off. We didn’t really open up the playbook regarding the air attack. I don’t know why. I wasn’t calling the plays.”
