Blake Griffin, the #1 overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2009 NBA Draft, will be out for the 2009–10 NBA season. After several weeks, tests revealed that his knee was not recovering well so he needed another surgery to repair the stress fracture in his left patella. Though the injury is not considered career-threatening, his skills and impact to the team will be seen in the next season.
In Griffin’s absence, the 35-year old Marcus Camby will continue to be the starting power forward with Craig Smith filling in at the backup slot. But the Clippers needs to work out as well the $9,150,000 million expiring contract of Camby. Camby is still effective and gives good effort on the defensive side. Since Griffin will be out for the rest of the season, it seems that Clippers will just keep Camby.
“As a group, we’re coming together better all the time, and adding that talent to our lineup was something we were looking forward to.”
