Over 40,000 people went to City of Manchester Stadium to witness the match between Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers on January 11, 2009. It was a long afternoon for Manchester City but its worth it for they dumped Blackburn 4-1 for the final score.
The former Manchester United player and currently Manchester City forward, Carlos Alberto Tevez, gave the first goal at 7 minutes in the game. City defender Micah Richards added another goal for the team at 40 minutes in the game. Rovers remained scoreless in the first half. At the beginning of the second half, Rovers called for substitution. Keith Andrews was replaced by David Hoilett and Franco Di Santo was replaced by Matko Kalinic.
Three minutes after the substitution, Carlos Tevez made another goal for the team. Rovers left winger Morten Gamst Pedersen scored for the team at 71 minutes in the game. It was their first goal of the game but their hope to tie the score vanished when City showed tight defense. Tevez was able to score another goal before the end of game to give the final score of 4-1.
