Miss Seoul Kim Joo-ri was crowned as the 2009 Miss Korea on July 8, 2009 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Seoul. The 53rd Miss Korea Pageant was hosted by VJ Lee Ki-sang and former Miss Korea 3rd runner up Son Tae-young. Kim will represent South Korea in the upcomg Miss Universe 2010 which will be held in 2010 summer.
“I am so happy and I thank everybody who has been cheering for me. I’m happy, but I believe this means I will have to try harder to uphold the Miss Korea spirit. I promise I will do my best.”

Kim stands 5’8″ and weighs 112 lbs. She is a 21-yr old graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet School who can speak fluent English and Russian. She wants to be a professional ballerina or diplomat someday. She likes various sports including golf, horseback riding,jazz dancing, and swimming.
The 22-year old from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Cha Ye-Lin and 21-year-old from Yeongnam University Seo Eun-mi got the first runner up title. The 22 year-old from Parsons School of Design Park Ye-ju, 22-year old from Dongduk Women’s University Choi Ji-hee, 21 year-old from Mokwon University You Su-jung, and 21-year-old from Dongduk Women’s University Lee Seul-gi were the four second runner-ups.
Wang Ji-hye is Ms. Photogenic, Yoo Su-jung got the “Best in Talent” award, Yang Kook-hwa got the “Friendship Award,” Jo Su-jin got the “Manners Award,” Kwon Ri-sae got the “Korean Abroad Award,” and the “Popularity Award” goes to Park Ye-joo.
