Due to the unexpected severe winter snow and ice storms with high winds, English Premier League has canceled five matches set on Saturday, January 9, 2010. According to Premier League rules, matches cannot be postponed or abandoned except with the approval of the referee or by order of the police or other authority exercising its statutory powers to that effect. But the statutory authorities have decided to postpone some of the games because it is not safe for the matches to go ahead.
Five matches had to be called off due to bad weather conditions that has been affecting the country. Below are the games which are confirmed as postponed this Saturday:

Other matches scheduled on Saturday, Arsenal-Everton and Birmingham-Manchester United, will resume. No further announcement yet as to when those canceled matches will be rescheduled.
