FARRAH FAWCETT (February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009)
Who will forget the face of Farrah Fawcett? Farrah is best known as Jill Munroe in the hit 1976 TV series Charlie’s Angels. She was also a multiple Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee. Her hairstyle was widely imitated by millions of young women in 1970 to 1980’s. She was considered as an international sex symbol in those decades because of a large volume of her poster sales.
Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer in the year 2006. Anal canbcer is a type of cancer which arises from the external opening of the rectum called anus. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery and after 4 months, reports said that she is cancer free. But in May 2007, she was diagnosed to have a malignant polyp. Her US doctors suggested that she should undergo a colostomy procedure, a surgical procedure that will connect a colon onto the anterior abdominal wall and the after the procedure the feces will leave through the abdomen. But she went to Germany for another or alternative way. Dailymail.co.uk reported that she underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and a course of holistic treatments from a German clinic.
On April 2009, she was rushed to the hospital not because of her cancer but because of her painful abdominal hematoma which resulted from minor procedure according to Dr. Lawrence Piro. Last month, it was reported in People that Farrah was critically ill. Although Farrah was always been optimistic and says that she was always doing well, it was revealed that anal cancer that she had since 2006 have spread to other parts of her body, including her liver.
Just recently MSNBC reported that Ryan O’Neal asked Farrah to marry him and they would wed as soon as she can say “yes” but that didn’t happen for Farrah already passed away yesterday, June 25, 2009.
