CHARICE BOTOX TREATMENT IN DETAIL
Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco also known as “Charice Pempengco” became a major buzz in the web after she underwent Botox treatment and Thermage skin-tightening procedure with celebrity cosmetic surgeon, Dr Vicki Belo, last Saturday, July 17, 2010. This 18-year old Filipina singer hits the popular microblogging service, Twitter, and her Botox treatment makes it to top Twitter topics.
Pempengco rose to fame through Youtube and gained international attention after her first appearance on South Korean talent show “Star King.” After her “Star King performance” she was invited by Ellen DeGeneres to perform on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Her performance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” caught Oprah’s interest and after appearing in “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Oprah contacted David Foster, who is known for producing some of the most successful artists in the world. After almost three years of building a successful singing career, Pempengco was given a chance to be seen in US television series “Glee.” It was reported that she will have a great role in the second season. She will play a foreign exchange student with outstanding vocals and Rachel Berry’s worst enemy. “Glee” will be Pempengco’s another stepping stone to gain more fans in the US but because of the Botox treatment controversy, she received thousands to millions of negative feedbacks from in and outside her country. Most people believed that an eighteen year old girl is too young to undergo Botox treatment.
PEMPENGCO WANTS TO LOOK “FRESH”
A video footage uploaded to Youtube clearly showed that Pempengco underwent Botox treatment and Thermage skin tightening procedure. News reporters from one of the television network in the Philippines, GMA Network Inc, together with international manager, Marc Johnston, were present while Dr Belo performed Botox injections on Pempengco’s face. Pempengco was nervous but still continue the treatment. The doctor, who is also her godmother, said that Botox and Thermage were meant to narrow her “naturally round face,” which had become “wider” because of excessive gum chewing.
In that video interview, Pempengco admitted that it is one of their big preparations for “Glee.” She said that she wanted to look “fresh” on camera.
The news network also interviewed Johnston and said that they are already seeking opinions with several international hairstylist to try different hairstyles which will fit on Pempengco’s image.

PEMPENGCO’S SPOKESPERSON DENIED THE COSMETIC REASON
Pempengco’s Botox treatment still creating buzz and still gaining negative feedbacks. Her spokesperson wants to end this neverending criticisms and she told Us Weekly that Pempengco didn’t undergo Botox for cosmetic reasons but rather to a treat a jaw problem associated with “Temporomandibular Joint Disorder” (TMJ). She said that it is something that the doctor failed to explained.
Some people didn’t believe that Pempengco has jaw problem. One of the commenter of Dlisted said that it was just a terrible excuse
“How can she sing high notes if she has a jaw problem? Why she was able to perform (within the same day) if she just got her jaw fixed?”
MOTHER BLAMES THE DOCTOR
According to mb.com.ph, her mother Raquel Pempengco, blamed Dr Belo for all the negative feedbacks. It’s not because Dr Belo advices her daughter to undergo Botox but because of confidentiality issues. She posted on her tweeter account (in all caps) that Dr Belo is trying to destroy her daughter’s booming career. She seemed very angry and very annoyed. She poured out all her sentiments in her Twitter account and showed how she was deeply affected to her daughter’s controversial Botox treatment.

Why is she blaming the doctor? Did she mean that the doctor was instructed not to brought it to media and that the video report above was televised without her permission?
