Alabama Crimson Tide wins the BCS National Championship game on Thursday night at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Alabama defeated Texas by 21-37. This was Alabama’s first title since 1992. Nick Saban, head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide college football team, became the first coach to win titles at two different schools.
Texas Longhorns starting quarterback Daniel Colt McCoy was forced to leave game after suffering an injury to his shoulder. McCoy was hurt on the Longhorns’ fifth offensive play, when he was tackled at the line on an option keeper. His body collided into the helmet of defensive end Marcell Dareus for no gain. He appeared to be alright but he suddenly felt the pain. He walked to the sideline as medical staff treated him. He’s on the X-Ray room where his right shoulder was examined by the doctor. He was relegated to the sideline ’till the end of the game. McCoy being out of game, weakened the team and that changes the game for Alabama.
Crimson Tide was scoreless in the first quarter but they’re back in the second quarter. Senior place kicker Leigh Tiffin, defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, runningback Trent Richardson, and 2009 Heisman Trophy award winner Mark Ingram contributed in the second quarter.
Longhorns wide receiver Jordan Shipley runs into the end zone to score on 44-yard pass from quarterback Garrett Gilbert during the third quarter. The team seemed to have recovered but it’s not enough to wreck Crimson Tide’s great offensive play.
Ingram’s 1 yard ran in the fourth quarter with 2:01 left was followed by Richardson ran for 109 yards and two touchdowns at 47 minutes left in the game which sealed the Tide’s win.
“This is truly a team effort. I’m just proud of everyone.”
