The country’s most prestigious and most prominent award ceremony, Academy Awards (Oscars), has announced this year’s set of nominees. “Avatar” and “The Hurt Locker” received the most number of nominations, followed by “Inglorious Basterds” with 8 nominations, “Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire and Up in the Air” with 6 nominations, “Up” by 5 nominations, “District 9,” “Star Trek” and “Nine” with 4 nominations, “Crazy Heart,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “An Education,” and “The Young Victoria” with 3 nominations, “The Blind Side,” “A Serious Man,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,” “Invictus,” “The Last Station,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “The Messenger,” and “The White Ribbon” with 2 nominations, and the rest like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” with 1 entry.
